Dekalb County Multi-Defendant Court

POH+W Architects designed the first Multi-Defendant Courtroom at the Dekalb County, Georgia Courthouse. The concept design for this supersized courtroom holds up to 15-defendant cases where most of the existing courtrooms can only hold single defendant cases. The large courtroom accommodates a Judge, witness, interpreter, court reporter, two clerks, prosecutors, 20 Jurors, 15 defendants + 15 defense attorneys, numerous deputies and approximately 100 people in the gallery. A 64-seat multi-purpose room holds overflow seating for larger cases.

A more challenging security protocol and viewing site lines inherent with a larger courtroom was required. POH+W Architects is also developing new design standards for future DeKalb County Court remodels.
